Hindu wedding photography in Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Stanmore

More satisfied customers…..

I captured Krupel and Rikin’s Indian wedding photography in London (Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Stanmore) not too long ago and over the weekend, they collected their albums. The process of Indian wedding album design is quite detailed. Once the couple have chosen their photos, the album is designed, the proof is signed off and the albums are printed. But the hard work is worth it when you watch the smiling, happy faces of couples as they see their albums for the first time. And Krupel and Rikin were no different – they were over the moon with their finished albums, and it was also nice to catch up with them again!

Here are a some photographs from Viresh’s vidhi.

Latest wedding story part 2 – Wedding photography of the Indian wedding pithi ceremony, in Kent

Jaemi and Viresh’s Indian wedding celebrations last month were spread over a few days. After their civil wedding in Archbishops Palace, Maidstone, and just before their Hindu wedding ceremony, they had the Pithi (turmeric) ceremony, in Kent. These rituals are about ensuring that the couple are radiant and glowing for that very special day, and involve family members ‘preparing’ the bride and groom (in their respective homes) for the forthcoming wedding. They apply a paste made from a number of things which can include herbs, vegetable oils and primarily turmeric on the face, arms and feet of the bride and the groom. The ingredients used in this ceremony are known to be good for the complexion and have been used through the ages. It’s almost like an ancient Indian Spa Treatment! All the ingredients for the ceremony are separately put in decorative bowls and are traditionally applied by brushes made of grass. The family members apply the haldi symbolically to the bride/groom’s feet, knees, hands, shoulders and head seven times from bottom to top, and then top to bottom. This is accompanied by the singing of folk songs. The Ganesh Pooja and Grah Shanti and were also performed. The haldi ceremony is a light-hearted, fun tradition, before the serious business of the Indian wedding.  Here are some images from the Jaemi’s pithi ceremonies, watch out for the wedding story part 3 soon – covering Viresh’s pithi!

Latest wedding photography story part 1 – the Civil wedding in Archbishops Palace, Maidstone, Kent.

I was lucky to be able to photograph and share Jaemi and Viresh’s wedding story over a number of days in April.  After doing their pre-wedding shoot at Kew Gardens, the actual wedding celebrations kicked off with their civil wedding at Archbishops Palace, Maidstone, and here are few civil wedding photographs from that day. Wedding photography at Archbishops Palace is a wedding photographers dream. Archbishops Palace, Maidstone , a Grade 1 listed building, is absolutely stunning, with some wonderful brickwork and scenery providing the perfect backdrop for group photos and the couple’s portraits.  Jaemi’s wedding dress and Viresh’s wedding suit were stylishly complimentary, and the outfit colour co-ordination of the bridesmaids, flower-girls and ushers was equally pleasing to the eye!

Next wedding photography blog will be from Jaemi and Viresh’s pithi in a few days time.

Civil wedding photography in Weybridge and wedding reception photography in Oatlands Park Hotel

Marsha and Jaroslav’s wedding at Weybridge Registry Office and reception at Oatlands Park Hotel, was a stylish and intimate event for family and close friends. Marsha and I were a bit worried that the rain wouldn’t give us the opportunity to get some photographs outside in the spring greenery around the venue, but as luck would have it, the rain stopped before the wedding proceedings began and didn’t come back for the rest of the day.  So, after the vows were said and the couple duly congratulated, we got some beautifully natural images outside and outside in the beautiful grounds of Weybridge Registry Office.

The reception was held in a nearby Oatlands Park Hotel which is set amongst 10 acres of private grounds, featuring magnificent views of the surrounding grounds and woodland – a magical setting for their wedding celebrations. For a wedding photographer, Oatlands Park Hotel has beautiful backdrops both inside and outside to provide fantastic wedding photographs for the wedding album.

Here’s a small selection of images which I think admirably reflect the warmth and love of this couple, their guests and the atmosphere of their special day.

Indian Chandlo Matli ceremony photography in Norwich

In recent weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing Indian weddings in the home counties around London – from Surrey, to Kent and Oxfordshire.  It was just as enjoyable to go a bit further afield to Norfolk and to the Holiday Inn, Norwich for Ekta and Neeraj’s chandlo matli.  This is essentially the engagement ceremony and the couple exchange rings and gifts.  As always, the beautiful sarees and sherwani’s with their vivid colours worn by the couple and their guests, make for great shots. Added to this, the fact that Ekta and Neeraj are naturals in front of the camera made for some stunning images.

Testimonial from a wedding at Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick

Here’s a testimonial from a couple whose Gujarati and Civil wedding I photographed at the Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick, in Surrey.

‘We got recommended Dinendra after much searching online and at wedding fairs, and we chose him to do our wedding photography as we felt his albums were creative and interesting without being too ‘artsy’. We liked his colour contrasts as some other photographers we’d looked at had brides and grooms with shiny faces or not the most flattering angles. We felt Dinendra’s work had a good balance and looked classy. When we met with Dinendra we felt reassured by his professional attitude and his warmth. He had the relaxed confidence of someone who knows his craft and doesn’t need to ‘big it up’. We felt Dinendra took great care over the details as he is passionate about his work and not just churning out wedding albums. Dinendra never made us feel like one of many couples and we felt very much at ease with him. His albums speak for themselves and you can see the attention to detail in his work. We weren’t actually aware of him taking pictures during our ceremony but he had a fantastic selection and we are delighted with our album. There’s a good balance in the layout and Dinendra used some of the photos he’d taken to create soft focused backgrounds which really complement the photos. Everyone who has seen our album says its the most beautiful wedding album they’ve ever seen. We are delighted with the results and would definitely recommend him.’

Thank you Bunsee and Himal, I enjoyed working with you and your families too!

Pre-wedding shoot – Hyde Park, London

I really enjoyed this pre-wedding shoot with Shivani and Sundeep in Hyde Park recently, a few weeks before their Indian wedding.  As well as getting some very timelessly natural shots of the couple, we also got to know each other better over afternoon tea.  Wedding photographers will know that establishing a good chemistry between themselves and the couple is vital to get excellent end results, and the pre-wedding shoot is an ideal place to do this.  I also found out that like me, Shivani and Sundeep like the sunshine. Fingers crossed that the day of their Indian wedding is bright and warm.
